Opening Post

Hey Everyone,

This Chris Sanville of the Class of 2012, one of the seven newest additions to the Bowdoin Nordic Alumni community.  I'm putting together this blog as an alumni specific forum where we can share stories about ski life after Bowdoin.  The stated purpose of this blog is to foster a growing sense of community among Nordic alums and serve as a kind of communication hub, along with our facebook page.  Its still in its infancy, but there's a lot to look forward to.  We're a small scattered group, but that makes us all that much more special and the times we get together that much more unique.  Two things to look forward to as soon as I figure how to make them happen on the web:

1. The Bowdoin World Cup
Here's how this works.  You do a ski race, any race, citizens race, Super Tour, Olympics, whatever, and you send me a link to the results.  Then using an arcane formula of my own creation, I assign you points (think USSA).  Once a year we all get together and the one with the highest points takes home a sweet trophy (to be bought, still working on that as well).

2. Bowdoin Racing Forum
Racing is expensive between entry fees, lodging, transportation, etc., especially for the younger skiers among us.  This forum will try to help mitigate those costs, and facilitate a fun Bowdoin Alum get together simultaneously.  You can post here if you're doing a race and have everything locked down, offering to help (for example I already have Birkie hotel reservations if you're looking for a place to stay), or you can ask for help from anyone in the area.

I'm pretty excited about all this, so please send any stories or memories you would like put up on the blog.  Happy skiing!
