Spencer Brings Home Dinner

Hey Everyone,

Its been a little while since this blog updated and it seems to be off to a slow start.  Never fear though, a couple posts are (hopefully) in the works.  We have Maren in New Zealand, Niko in Haiti, Nick Crawford in Idaho, myself in Alaska, and a bunch of other skiers all over the place.  Spencer is training in Truckee, CA right now and doing the whole pro/semi-pro skier thing.  A future post will hopefully fill in some of the details, but a few days ago he sent me this email and picture:

Subject Line: TRUE STORY

So this morning I was roller skiing down this massive, I mean really big, hill when all of a sudden this deer jumped out in front of me. Luckily 4 years of college skiing have prepared my split second reactions for such an obstruction. With the exquisite grace only possible on roller skis, I T-boned the beast and used it to cushion my fall. Unfortunately, for the deer, its neck snapped on impact rendering it dead. Not wanting to waste the life of such a beautiful animal, we put it in the team van and had a roast this evening.

Other then this excitement, California is awesome. I hope to race with you all at some point this season and keep crushing the training. Go on awesome adventure runs and do lots of pushups.

Happy Trails.
